The Tamil Nadu
Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE) is conducted
by Anna University, Chennai for admission to all professional courses
in Tamil Nadu Including MBBS, BDS, BPharm, BPT/BOT, BSc (Nursing)
courses for all 'Free seats and Payment Seats' in Government, Government
Aided and private medical colleges. Government of India Nominees,
Diploma Holders for BPharm course and NRIs are exempted from TNPCEE.
Admission: Admission is open
to Indian citizens and whose parents have permanent residence in
the State. Candidates who have studied from IX Std to qualifying
exam in the State, Children of defence personnel of TN origin who
have passed X or XII exam from the State, Children of employees
of State Government or Public Sector Undertakings are exceptions.
Reservation: Reservation of seats
is as follows: All India entrance 15% (MBBS/BDS), MBBS Grand children
and children of Freedom Fighters 3 seats, Development of Tamil Language
6 seats, Defence Quota 6 seats (BDS 1 seat), Children of Police
Personnel (who died in Heroic Action) 3 seats, Eminent sportsmen
3 seats, Widows 10 seats, Deserted women 1 seat, Children born of
inter caste marriage in Andaman and Nicobar Islands (MBBS/B Pharm)
2 seats and Anglo-Indian candidates (BSc Nursing 1 seat).
Eligibility: Candidates must
be at least 17 years of age in the year of admission. Candidates
must pass 12th std Higher Secondary (Academic) exam of Tamil Nadu
Higher Secondary State Board or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry,
Biology (Zoology & Botany) taken together securing 60% marks
in each subject and 70% (140 out of 200) aggregate marks in first
appearance for admission to MBBS or BDS. BC/SC & ST candidates
securing 55-60%/40% marks in each Science subject are also eligible
for admission. Candidates must pass 12th std Higher Secondary exam
with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology & Botany) taken
together securing 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST) for admission
to B Pharm. D Pharm holders are eligible for the B Pharm course.
Candidates must complete 12th std Higher Secondary exam with Physics,
Chemistry and Biology (Zoology & Botany together) for admission
to BSc (Nursing). Candidates both male and female seeking admission
to BSc (Nursing) course should be unmarried. The ratio between men
and women is 1:10 respectively in the selection of candidates
Application Procedure: Application
form can be obtained in person from the notified colleges on payment
of Rs.80 through bank draft in favour of Registrar, Anna University
payable at Chennai. The form can also be obtained by post from the
Secretary, Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examinations,
Anna University, Chennai 600025 on payment of Rs. 90 through bank
draft along with a self-addressed slip of 12*8 CM SIZE Completed
applications with registration fee of Rs.180 should reach the TNPCEE
by the notified date. Prospectus and application forms for admission
can be obtained from the notified medical colleges in the State
on payment of Rs. 300 through bank draft in favour of the Director
of Medical Education, Chennai on State Bank of India. Completed
application should reach the Secretary, (Selection Committee), Kilpauk
Medical College Hospital Campus, Chennai-600010 by the notified
date. The admission notification is issued sometime in April.
Selection: Selection is on the
basis of marks obtained in Science subjects (PCB) at the qualifying
exam reduced to the base of 200 marks and the marks obtained for
the maximum of 100 marks in entrance exam conducted by Anna University.
The test is conducted at 21 centres in Tamil Nadu. The list of the
selected candidates is notified at the Office of the Selection Committee
and in local dailies.
