The Punjab Medical Entrance Test (PMET) is conducted by Baba Farid
University of Health Sciences, Faridkot through Guru Nanak Dev University,
Amritsar for admission to MBBS, BDS and BAMS courses in following

(50 seats), BDS Dental College, Amritsar (40 seats), Dental College,

Amritsar (60 seats), Dasmesh Institute of Dental Sciences &
Research, Faridkot (60 seats), Khalsa Dental College and Hospital,
Nangal Kalan, Mansa (100 seats), Guru Nanak Dental College &
Research Institute, Sunam (60 seats), Baba Jaswant Singh Dental
College and Res, Ludhiana (100 seats) BAMS Shri Lakshirnarain Ayd

Reservation: Reservation of seats
is as follows: All India entrance 15%, SC/ST 25%, BC 5%, Backward
Area 2%, Border Area 2%, Children or grand children of Political
sufferers 2%, Children or Widows of defence personnel (killed or
disabled) 2%, Handicapped 1% (for MBBS), Children or Widows of Para
military personnel 1%, Children or Widows of Punjab Police, PAP,
Punjab Home Guards Personnel (Killed or disabled) 1%, Sports 2%,
Nov 1984 riot affected displaced persons/terrorist affected 2% and
15 seats for NRIs (for MBBS).
Eligibility: Candidates must
be at least 17 years of age on December 31 of the year of admission.
Candidates must pass XII std or equivalent with 50% (45% for SC/ST)
aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken
together. Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying exam may
apply.
Application Procedure: Prospectus
containing syllabus, admission form and other relevant information
can be obtained from the medical colleges or specified authorities
on cash payment of Rs.200. It can be obtained by registered post
for Rs.215. Completed application along with a fee of Rs.600 (Rs.300
for SC/ST Candidates) through crossed bank draft should reach by
registered post to the Coordinator PMET, Guru Nanak Dev University,
Amritsar (or as notified) by the prescribed date.
Selection: Selection is on the
basis of merit in the Competitive Entrance Exam (PMET) in Physics,
Chemistry, Biology and Zoology of 2.5 hours duration. Total Marks
for the PMET is 800 with 200 questions (50 each for PCBZ) Each question
will carry 4 marks and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
The exam is on the pattern of CBSE syllabus with multiple-choice
questions. The test is conducted in Abohar, Amritsar, Bhatinda,
Chandigarh, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana,
Patiala and Pathankot. The merit list is notified in Local dailies.
Candidates are also required to appear for an interview on the specified
date at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.
