The following universities and colleges fall under

The Common
Entrance Test (CET) is conducted for admission to MBBS and BDS courses
in respect of free and payment seats in Government Medical College,
Srinagar; Government Medical College, Jammu; Acharya Shri Chandra
College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Jammu; Jehlum Valley
College of Medical Sciences, Srinagar; Government Dental College,
Srinagar.
Admission:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed the qualifying exam
from an institution in J & K, children of permanent residents
of the state, Children of Officers belonging to J & K State
who are on deputation to Union Government, children of permanent
resident in Defence and paramilitary forces (including BSF/ ITBP/
CRPF) serving in Siachin Glacier area or anywhere in the country
are exceptions.
Reservation:
Reservation of seats is as follows: Merit Seats 50%, SC 8%, ST 10%
(Gujjar & Bakerwal 6%, Leh Distt 2%, Kargil Distt 2%) Other
ST 1%, Other Social Castes 2%, Residents of Backward areas or near
Line of Actual Control 20%, children of Defence personnel (permanent
residents of the State) 3%, Sports category 2%, children of State
Police Personnel and Para Military Forces (Permanent Residents)
serving in the J&K State 1%. There will be 50% reservation under
all categories for female candidates.
Eligibility: Candidates
must be at least 17 years on December 31 of the year of admission.
Candidates must pass 12th standard Senior Secondary exam (Class
XII/10+2) or an equivalent exam with English, Physics, Chemistry
and Biology securing 50% aggregate marks (40% in case of certain
reserved categories).
Application Procedure:
Application form along with information brochure and syllabus can
be obtained from the office of the Competent Authority Entrance
Examinations, Civil Secretariat, Jammu/94 Poloview, Srinagar and
offices of District Development Commissioner, Leh/Kargil against
a Treasury Receipt (in original) for Rs. 200 deposited in any State
Govt Treasury under Account Head No. "0075-Sect General Services-Other
Receipts". Completed applications should reach the office of the
Competent Authority Entrance Examinations by the notified date.
Selection:
selection is on the basis of merit in the Common Entrance Test conducted
in Jammu and Srinagar. The question papers have multiple-choice
questions in Physics, Chemistry and Biology of 1½ hours duration
each. In case of tie, candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology
or Biology & Chemistry are given preference. List of selected
candidates and waiting list of candidates is displayed in colleges
and the university.
