The Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by Punjab
University for admission to BE/ B.Tech./ BArch courses in its Colleges/Department
in Chandigarh - Chandigarh College of Architecture; Department of
Chemical Engineering & Technology, Punjab Engineering College.
Allocation of Seats: 60%
of seats (Union Territory Pool) are allocated to candidates who
have passed the qualifying exam from schools and colleges located
in Chandigarh. 40% of seats are allocated to students from outside
Chandigarh. Admission to the Department of Chemical Engineering
& Technology is offered on an all India basis.
Eligibility: Candidates should have completed
the 10+2 (Science) exam with English, Physics, Chemistry and Math
or its equivalent from a recognized Board. Candidates who have appeared
in the qualifying exam are also eligible. Candidates should be physically
fit.
Application Procedure: Application
from and CET booklet can be obtained from the Punjab University
on cash payment of Rs. 120. The form can also be obtained by post
from the Manager, Publication Bureau, Punjab University, Chandigarh
on payment of Rs. 140 through bank draft in favor of the Registrar,
Punjab University. Completed applications with test fee of Rs. 400
(Rs. 200 for SC/ST candidates) through bank draft should reach the
Assistant Registrar (CET), Punjab University by the notified date.
Selection: Selection is based on merit in
CET conducted in Physics, Chemistry and Math. Candidates for B Architecture
course are also required to appear for the aptitude test.
Centers: The examination is conducted in Chandigarh,
Delhi and Ludhiana, The merit list is notified in local newspapers
and colleges. Candidates whose names appear in the merit list are
required to appear for counselling on the specified dates.
Admission: Candidates whose names appear in
the merit list are also required to apply separately on the prescribed
application form for centralised admission, which can be obtained
from the Convener, Joint Admission Committee, Punjab University
on cash payment of Rs. 60 or Rs.75 for those applying by post.
