The
Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by Punjab Technical University,
Jalandhar for admission to BE/ BTech/ BArch/ BTech (Agricultural
Engineering) courses in the Engineering Institutions and Departments
of university located in the State of Punjab.
Admission: Admission is open to candidates
who have passed qualifying exam from institutions located in Punjab.
Seats are also available for candidates passing the qualifying exam
from institutions located outside Punjab. Allocation of seats, conditions
of domicile and eligibility vary from institution to institution.
Reservation: Reserveation of seats is as follows:
SC 15%, ST 7%, Be 5%. Seats are also reserved for handicapped, sports
persons, Defence personnel, terrorist victims, rural areas, political
sufferers, Freedom Fighters, NRIs etc.
Allocation of Seats: All seats in Governments,
University Institutions and 50% seats in private colleges are Free
Seats. 50% seats in private colleges are reserved as Payment Seats.
Eligibility: Candidates should complete 10+2
(Science stream) exam with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Maths
or its equivalent. Candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering/Technology
from the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial
Training with 60% marks are also eligible. Candidates who have appeared
in the qualifying exam can appear in CET.
Application Procedure: Application form and
CET Information Brochure can be obtained from the Co-ordinator,
CET Punjab Technical University, and Jalandhar 144011 on cash payment
of RS 175 or RS 200 by bank draft in favour of Registrar, Punjab
Technical University, if required by post. Completed applications
with entrance test fee of Rs. 500 (Rs. 600 for candidates desirous
of appearing in Architectural Aptitude paper also) should reach
the Co-ordinator by the notified date.
Selection: Selection is based on merit in
Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted in Physics, Chemistry, and
Maths at various centres in the State and also at Chandigarh, Delhi,
Jammu, and Kurukshetra. Admission of candidates to Architecture
course is made as per their merit position in CET secured on the
basis of marks obtained by them in the subject of Physics, Chemistry,
and Mathematics and Architectural aptitude test. In case of reserved
seats, relative merit of candidates is architectural aptitude test.
In case of reserved seats, relative merit of candidates is 15% marks
in the aggregate in the entrance test (10% marks for SC/ST candidates)
to qualify. Candidates who qualify the test are informed individually
and the list of successful candidates is notified in leading newspapers.
